Hi! This week I have come back with another important topic for international students at Ewha. I will explain a bit about how to apply for a leave of absence as well as a return from leave as an Ewha student. For any other information please make sure to refer to the official website and the page devoted to this subject:

So, you need to take a break from school? Don’t worry, you can! There are a lot of different reasons people take a break from school whether it be because of sickness or any other personal reason. You can request a leave of absence up to 90 days from the first day of classes of the semester. You can take up to one year off of school, which equals two semesters.
Tuition is also reimbursed based on the amount you attended of the semester. This information is can be found on the link above.
How to apply: – Request leave of absence (internet) → Print out leave of absence form → Approval by guardian (other) → Submit leave of absence form (Students Service Center)
You must visit the office to complete your request. Upon your request completion, you must leave Korea within 14 days as the school will notify immigration about your visa no longer being valid.
To return from your leave, you need to apply for your return. This process is similar to applying for the leave. The only difference is that you must apply in the proper dates in order to be able to register for classes. For the first semester, the application time is from early to late February and for the second semester, the time is early to late August.
The steps to application are as follows:
Ewha Portal Information System → Intranet → Request/Cancel Return from Leave of Absence or Request/Cancel Early Return from Leave of Absence
I really hope this week’s post was helpful and I will see you in next week’s post!
